Inspired by a Hawaiian-style teriyaki burger, this Aloha Burger features a thick beef patty topped with crispy bacon, caramelized pineapple, and a sweet and savory pineapple-soy glaze. A splash of tequila adds even more depth of flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 thick beef burger patties
- 4 slices streaky bacon
- 2 burger buns
- 2 thick pineapple rings
- ½ onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp pineapple juice, reserved from the canned pineapple
- 1 tbsp tequila, optional
- 1 tsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp water
- 4 slices cheese
Directions
- Preheat your Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onion to a small griddle-safe pan and cook until softened.
- Stir the pineapple juice, brown sugar, and soy sauce into the onions.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornflour and water until smooth. Stir the slurry into the pineapple-onion mixture and simmer until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze.
- Cook the bacon on the griddle until browned and crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Lightly oil the griddle and add the burger patties. Cook for 4–5 minutes on the first side, or until a deep crust develops.
- While the burgers cook, melt the butter on another section of the griddle. Add the pineapple rings and sprinkle with a little of the brown sugar. Cook until caramelized on both sides.
- If using tequila, carefully add it to the pineapple and allow it to cook down.
- Flip the burger patties and top each with two slices of cheese. Cover with a melting dome or cloche and cook until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your preferred doneness.
- Toast the burger buns on the griddle until lightly golden.
- Place a cheeseburger patty on each bottom bun. Top with the crispy bacon, caramelized pineapple, and a generous spoonful of the pineapple-onion glaze.
- Add the top buns and serve immediately.
