Ingredients
- 2 burger buns (potato rolls preferred)
- 400g minced beef
- 4 frozen hash browns
- 8 rashers streaky bacon
- 4 eggs
- 4 slices cheese (such as American or cheddar)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (15 ml)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Hot sauce, to serve
Directions
- Preheat a griddle or frying pan to medium-high heat and add the oil.
- Place the hash browns onto the griddle and cook slowly, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy.
- Add the bacon and cook until crisp (or how you like it) allowing the fat to render into the cooking surface.
- Lightly toast the burger buns on the griddle until just warmed and slightly golden.
- Divide the minced beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties or form into balls and snag them on the griddle, then season with salt.
- Cook the patties on the hot surface until browned on both sides and cooked to your preference, then place cheese on top and allow it to melt.
- Fry the eggs on the griddle until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a hash brown on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty with melted cheese, then the bacon and a fried egg.
- Add the top bun and serve immediately, adding hot sauce to each bite if desired.
- You might want to pair with a strong black, coffee or juice!
